Hi,
Not too long ago, I bought a Laserjet MFP 135W which I managed after hours of work to connect to my WIFI network using a USB cable. Recently, I have had issues with the connection between the printer and my WIFI - the printer will simply not connect. I have tried using using the PBC option on the printer and pushing the WPS button on the router. This results in message "Connecting...." on the printer following by "Disconnected." a couple of seconds later. I have also tried using WiFi direct mode and connected a PC, open the Embedded Web Service (EWS) from the web browser and both using the wizard as well as manually tried to enter all details of the WIFI connection, but without luck. Seems like the settings are not saved upon pressing the button "Apply" in the web interface. I have also tried using HP Smart and WiFI direct and accessed the EWS with the same outcome as above. Also tried using USB rather than WIFI Direct, also this does not work. Settings will not be saved.
Using WIFI direct and USB, the printer works flawlessly (but such connections are rather awkward to use, when there I want it on my network). The printer has the latest firmware V3.82.01.11 or the previous from Dec-19.
Any suggestions on how I can connect this printer to my WIFI AP? Is there a way to perform a hard reset?

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor: Follow steps from the link: Click here
Root level uninstall and reinstall printer drivers:
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP LaserJet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
If the issue still continues, install using the Windows Built-in Print Driver: Click here
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi, after hours of debugging, I installed a secondary router with WIFI on my network. Using a new SSID I managed to connect the printer. Playing around with this setup, I tried to understand where the issues were. Finally, I managed to connect the printer to my primary WIFI. FYI, issues does not seem to relate to a particular PC or drivers. I have tried to setup the printer using at least three Win PCs and one phone using Android.
Issues could have been a combined 2,4 GHz and 5 GHz network under one SSID as well as a password containing special characters (such as !, @ etc). Upon splitting the SSID into two and creating new passwords containing aA-zZ and 0-9, it seems like the printer connects (however not using WPS). Still I do not understand why information are not always stored upon pressing "Apply". However, the issue is solved...for now.
Looking at recent developments in for example smart hardware and other devices, it should be rather easy creating better interfaces between user and printer, this in order to facilitate friction-less connection. I believe you could do a lot better, at a fraction of increase in development cost and end product price.
Regards
Eric
