HP Color Laser 150nw
Linux

Hi,

I have just setup my new printer, Color Laser 150nw, over wired Ethernet.  Initially, everything worked perfectly with no input from myself at all, just as expected with printing on Linux.

I updated the printer firmware to the latest version, regrettably, (which is only found on the website under Windows, sort that out HP!) and the update was a success.

However, now the printer is simply unreachable and therefore can't print.

I've tried to re-add it (CUPS) and the printer is shown under Network, with the correct IP, but after selecting the correct model of printer I get 'CUPS Server Error'. I have tried all various protocols that are shown (such as IPP), and the result is the same regardless.

I have tried via laetst hplip, no printer found at all on the Network.

I installed the HP Linux driver, which updated CUPS, no change in the issue.

I have tried with firewall off, even though I have a local allow all rule.

The printer's local web interface shows no issues, ready, no alerts.

Network configuration as follows:  IPv4 in use, Standard TCP/IP Printing Protocol (9100), LPR/LPD Protocol (515), IPP enabled, mDNS enabled (5353), SNMPv1/2 enabled.  Wifi is disabled as I do not wish to use it.

I'm using Linux Mint 22.2, based on Ubuntu.

As the printer worked fine out of the box, what could this latest firmware have done to cause this that I'm overlooking?

Many thanks.

Hi,

I have solved the issue.

I used the CUPS localhost web interface, then when prompted, I manually selected the driver pdd file from the downloaded drivers I got from the hp website.  Phew.

Just in case this helps out anyone else.

Thanks.
