Hi @krigney,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer. Dealing with a locked out printer and persistent error messages can be frustrating. Let's try some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the problem.

  • Restart the Printer: Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. Turn on the printer and see if the error message persists.
  • Update Firmware: Make sure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Go to the HP website, enter your printer model (OfficeJet Pro 8710), and check if there are any firmware updates available. If so, follow the instructions to update the firmware.
  • Check Network Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to the same network as your computer or device. A stable and active internet connection is crucial for Instant Ink services to work correctly.
  • Reset Network Settings: If there are issues with the network connection, you can try resetting the printer's network settings. Go to the printer's control panel, navigate to the network settings, and look for an option to reset network settings.
  • Reinstall Printer Software: Uninstall the printer software from your computer, restart the computer, and then reinstall the latest printer drivers from the HP website.
  • Clear Print Queue: Sometimes a stuck print job can cause issues. Clear the print queue on your computer and try printing again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
