Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Hello, I have a printer with the Network/Wi-Fi locked. It is my work printer, and it was already here before I started my job last year. For some reason, the Network/Wi-Fi is locked and is asking for a printer user to log in to access it, or for the device administrator to log in. The issue is that the person who had my previous position before does not know the device administrator password and said they did not make one. I am not sure what to do next since I can't log into the printer to my HP account because the Wi-fi is locked. And resetting everything (that I know of) in the printer did not get rid of the device administrator. I honestly just need help resetting my printer so I can create a new login and get to the Wi-fi that way. Thank you, and I hope this was not too confusing.

Hi @yanz333,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please let us know the printer's name and the model number along with the network setup of the HP device so that we can assist you further?

If you are experiencing an issue with the Wi-Fi setup being locked on your HP printer, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Restart your printer and your Wi-Fi router: Sometimes, simply restarting your devices can help to resolve connectivity issues.
  • Check that the printer is in range of your Wi-Fi network: Make sure that your printer is within range of your Wi-Fi network and that there are no physical obstructions that could be blocking the signal.
  • Check your Wi-Fi network settings: Ensure that your Wi-Fi network is configured correctly and that you have entered the correct password.
  • Reset the printer network settings: You may need to reset the printer's network settings to clear any previous configurations that could be causing issues. You can do this by accessing the printer's control panel and selecting the "Restore Network Defaults" option.
  • Update the printer firmware: Make sure that your printer is running the latest firmware. You can check for updates on the HP website or through the printer's control panel.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
