Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had a seconds long power disruption and since then, the wireless connection has been lost. I have followed all the offered guidelines including power down/up the printer, rebooted the PC several times, and the wireless modem several times as well.  No success. The printer's wireless summary says - Network Name: Not Available.  The printer's blue wireless icon continues to flash. Any suggestions??

Hi @TornadoTed,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating wireless connectivity issue with your HP Envy 7858 printer following a brief power outage. You've already taken some good initial steps. Here are a few more troubleshooting actions you can try to help re-establish the wireless connection:

Check Printer's Wireless Settings:

  • On your printer, navigate to the wireless settings or network setup menu.
  • Look for an option labeled “Wireless Setup Wizard” or similar. Running this wizard can help the printer reconnect to your wireless network by searching for available networks and letting you enter the Wi-Fi password.

Restore Network Defaults:

  • Sometimes restoring the printer to its default network settings can help. You can usually find this option in the wireless or network settings menu.
  • After restoring, use the Wireless Setup Wizard to reconnect to your network.

Confirm Router Settings:

  • Ensure that your router is broadcasting the network name (SSID) and is set to an encryption standard compatible with your printer (like WPA2).
  • Check if there are any MAC address filtering settings enabled that might be blocking the printer.

Positioning:

  • Ensure there are no physical obstructions or interference between the printer and the router that could disrupt the signal. Devices like microwaves, cordless phones, and thick walls can interfere with wireless signals.
  • Try moving the printer closer to the router temporarily to see if proximity improves connectivity.

Restart Everything:

  • Although you've rebooted your PC and modem, try a full network power cycle: Turn off your printer, computer, and router. Start by turning on the router and waiting for it to fully boot up. Next, turn on the printer and then the computer.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • If possible, connect your printer to the computer using a USB cable and check if there are firmware updates available from HP's official website. Updates can resolve hidden bugs and improve performance.

Check for Interference:

  • Ensure that your wireless router is not using a crowded wireless channel. You can use apps like Wi-Fi Analyzer to check channel congestion and switch your router to a less crowded channel.

Printer's Hardware Check:

  • Look at the printer’s wireless card if accessible. Make sure it is seated properly and there are no visible signs of damage. This is more technical and might require professional help if you're unsure.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Rachel - I followed your guidelines including rebooting the router, printer and PC in proper succession. The printer's wireless setup wizard seemed like a great process.  All worked until the printer did not accept the w-fi router password - at least four times. I was hoping the reboot (off and back on) in proper succession would help do the trick, but ultimately it did not. The printer and router are less than 10 ft apart and have no history of a poor connection.

I am open to further suggestions to help resolve this frustrating situation.

Thanks!

Rachel571 -

After repeated tries, I finally got the wireless connection to .........wait for it........connect!  I am back in operation!

Thanks for the additional assistance. It was a frustrating experience after a simple few second power disruption, the source of the disruption remains a mystery. Appliance clocks had to be reset.
