M479dw
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

Hello,

I scan to network folder over SMB protocol provided by macOS. It works well round about a year.

Anything changed in macOS 11.6 in compare to 11.5, because the printer can't connect (auth error) to two different installation what was possible before the upgrade to 11.6.

Windows 10 or other macOS installation are able to connect to the SMB share of the macOS 11.6 system.

Any idea about incompatibility with the firmware of M479dw?

Firmwareversion CLRWTRXXXN002.2118A.00

Build-Datum 2021-04-27

Thanks for any hint

Please check below support document, although intended for different printers it applies for your printer model too, make sure to carefully follow step 2 regarding the printer time settings, I believe it should help:

Hi,

Please open System Preferences > Sharing < File Sharing and click on Options.

Make sure that the user is checked as On for Windows File Sharing.

I suggest verifying above, on my personal experience the option did disabled itself during the update so it worth verifying the option there might not got disabled for the used user account.

This option is still on and I tested the connection as described above with various systems.

The printer seems to be the problem.

Thank you for your hint
