My MFP 3302 suddenly started constantly losing wifi connection to the router after the connection was stable for 14 months. I have no explanation for this. Nothing in the configuration has been changed. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Since the printer's place is close to the router, I solved the problem with an Ethernet cable (I don't want to bother with repairs).

Hi @teorema67,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Using an Ethernet (wired) connection is a perfectly valid and often the most stable option, especially since your printer is close to the router. Many customers choose this intentionally for business-class printers like the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3302fdwg, as it:
- Eliminates wireless interference
- Provides consistent connectivity
- Requires no ongoing troubleshooting
If everything is working well over Ethernet, there is absolutely no downside to continuing this setup.
If you ever want to revisit Wi-Fi later
Should you decide in the future to try Wi-Fi again, HP would typically recommend:
- Restarting both the printer and router
- Running the Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer control panel
- Ensuring the printer is connected to a 2.4 GHz network (if available)
- Updating printer firmware via HP Smart or Embedded Web Server
That said, since your current wired connection is stable and meets your needs, no further action is required.
