MFP M29W printer will not find new wireless network

M29w prints over usb but never shows the wireless network evcen though the wireless icon is blinking.

I understand your HP LaserJet MFP M29w printer is not detecting your new wireless network, even though the wireless icon is blinking. Let’s go through a few steps to get it connected.

Check Wi-Fi Network Requirements

Make sure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz.
The M29w does not support 5 GHz networks.

Ensure the router is broadcasting the network name (SSID) and is not hidden.

Make sure you have the correct Wi-Fi password.

Restart Devices

Power off the printer, router, and computer.

Wait for 30 seconds.

Power on the router first, wait until it’s fully online, then power on the printer and computer.

Restore Printer’s Network Settings

On the printer’s control panel, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel (X) button together for about 5 seconds.

This resets the network settings and puts the printer into Wireless Setup Mode (wireless light will blink).

Reconnect Using HP Smart App

On your computer or mobile device, download and open the HP Smart app.

Click Add Printer.

The app should detect the M29w in setup mode.

Follow the on-screen instructions to select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.

Verify Connection

Once connected, the wireless icon on the printer will stop blinking and stay solid.

You can print a Network Configuration Page by pressing and holding the Information (i) button for about 3 seconds to confirm the printer’s IP address and network status.

Set Printer as Default

On your computer, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.

Select the M29w and choose Set as default printer.

Test Printing Wirelessly

Try printing a test page from your computer to ensure wireless printing is working.
