Unable to initiate printing or scanning from my Mac utilizing wireless connection.  (My husband has a PC directly connected to the printer and it works for him).

I tried removing the printer and then adding it again to my computer with no success. I went through HP diagnostics app and it said it had fixed my printer que but no recognition of connection issues.

I did connect with tech one year ago and he indicated HP had not upgraded the software for this printer.  If they don't upgrade it do they just hang you out to dry? Trying to think of a work around without paying an independent IT to fix this.  Assistance would be greatly appreciated.
