HP OfficeJet Pro 8125 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I purchased a HP 8125 Office Jet Pro Printer earlier this week. I had difficulty setting the WIFI Connection between the Laptop and the Printer. I mistakenly clicked in the Tech Support Chat Window. The Support Tech requested my phone number.  I agreed to give him my phone number.  We discussed my issue. He recommended that I let him remotely take over my desktop.  He talked about 20 minutes explaining to my me the issues with my HP Notebook Computer and that these would have to be addressed before we could solve my issue with the WIFI Connection to computer. He offered me a solution which would cost me $199. He stated only the Printer Portion would be covered through HP.

I decided not to take his recommendation.  I later solved the WIFI issue on my own but now I have a Windows 11 Pop Up right in the center of my screen.  The message says: Your Printer May Be Malfunctioning  Suggest Immediate Repair with a small block that says: Fix Now

I can't figure out how to remove it within Windows 11 settings. I believe he placed this within my system when I declined his recommendation. The printer functions normally. I not happy that HP would recommend this support agency and person to support their customers.

Hi  @Rob20263

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and I understand your concern about the experience you've had.

We would like to clarify that HP does not charge customers for troubleshooting support related to HP products and issues covered under HP support services. Based on the details you shared, we would like to better understand the interaction and verify whether the contact was through an official HP support channel.

Could you kindly let us know:

  • How did you find the contact information for the technician?
  • Was the support session initiated through an HP website, a phone number, an online search result, or a third-party website?
  • Do you have the phone number, website address, email, or any other details associated with the support provider?

Also to better understand the source of the pop-up, could you kindly provide:
  • A screenshot of the notification.
  • The exact wording of the message, if possible.
  • Whether the pop-up appears immediately after startup or only when using the printer.
  • The website or phone number through which you contacted support.

You can also check Settings > Apps > Installed Apps and look for any recently installed applications that you do not recognize, especially those installed around the time of the support session.

If the printer is printing, scanning, and connecting normally, the message may not indicate an actual printer hardware issue.

However, a screenshot will help us determine whether the notification is from Windows, HP software, or a third-party application.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
