HP DeskJet 3630 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have been moved from BT to EE and now the printer (HP 36330) does not print from the laptop. It is either idle or error. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, switched on and off and done a million other things today and still no joy.  The configuration says it is on the right network and is connected to the internet. The wireless button is blue. The printer prints guides and prints from my mobile but not from my laptop. Any ideas? I am rather beside myself now!

@Drawlim,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating this must be! Since your HP DeskJet 3630 prints from your mobile but not from your laptop, we can narrow it down to a communication issue between your laptop and the printer rather than the printer itself. Here are some steps to try:

Restart Devices & Check Basics

  • Restart both your laptop and printer.
  • Ensure your laptop is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
  • Run a test print from another application on your laptop (e.g., Notepad) to confirm it's not a software issue.

Check Windows Default Printer

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Find your HP DeskJet 3630 and right-click it.
  • Set it as Default Printer (if it's not already).
  • Try printing again.

Remove & Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Uninstall the printer completely from your laptop:
    • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on the HP DeskJet 3630 and choose Remove Device.
    • Restart your laptop.
  • Download the latest drivers from HP’s website:
    HP DeskJet 3630 Drivers
  • Reinstall the drivers and set up the printer again.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP’s website and run it.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix any connection or printing issues.

Check Print Queue

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your printer and select See what's printing.
  • If there are stuck print jobs, clear the queue.
  • Try printing again.

 Disable VPN (If Applicable)

  • If you use a VPN, disable it, as it might block communication with the printer.

Try Printing via IP Address

  • On your printer, print a Network Configuration Page (press the Wireless & Info buttons together).
  • Look for the IP Address of your printer.
  • On your laptop, open a browser and enter the printer's IP address in the address bar.
  • If the printer’s webpage loads, try adding the printer using the IP:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a Printer.
    • Select "The printer that I want isn't listed" > Add a printer using TCP/IP address.
    • Enter the printer’s IP address and follow the prompts.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
