HP DeskJet 4155e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My 4155e has worked for 3 years on my wireless network. When we re set the router for another reason the connection to our laptops with the printer stopped. When I go through the HP Smart app to install the 4155e after the app recognizes the printer,  when it asks for the wireless network password, it won't accept the password. I even went into my "Century Link " account and changed the password, re starteded both the laptop, printer and router, and I still get the same message that the password is wrong.

Any Ideas?

@RBHI, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Yes! Here are some troubleshooting steps to get your HP DeskJet 4155e reconnected to Wi-Fi:

Step 1: Ensure the Correct Wi-Fi Details

  1. Double-check that you’re entering the correct Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.
  2. Ensure there are no extra spaces before or after the password.
  3. If your Wi-Fi has special characters (@, $, &, etc.), try changing it to a simpler password.

Step 2: Restart & Reset Devices

1. Restart your printer, router, and computer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for 1-2 minutes.
  • Restart your router and computer.
  • Turn everything back on and try reconnecting.

2. Reset Network Settings on the Printer:

  • Press and hold the Wireless button (📶) and the Cancel (X) button on the printer for 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi light starts blinking.
  • This resets the printer’s network settings.
  • Try connecting again using the HP Smart App.

Step 3: Try Connecting via WPS

If your router has a WPS button:

  • Press and hold the Wi-Fi button (📶) on the printer until it blinks.
  • Press the WPS button on the router within 2 minutes.
  • Wait for the Wi-Fi light to become solid.

Step 4: Use an Alternate Setup Method

Try connecting via USB first:

  1. Connect the printer to your laptop with a USB cable.
  2. Open HP Smart and follow the setup.
  3. Once set up, remove the USB cable and check if Wi-Fi works.

Step 5: Check Router Settings

  • Log into your router settings (usually via 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1).
  • Ensure 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi is enabled.
  • If you renamed your Wi-Fi, ensure the SSID broadcast is enabled.
  • Disable MAC Address Filtering (if enabled).

Step 6: Manually Assign a Static IP

If setup fails, try manually setting an IP address:

Print a Network Configuration Page:

  • Press the Information (i) button on the printer.
  • Find the IP Address on the printout.
  • Open a browser and enter the IP Address in the URL bar.
  • In the Embedded Web Server (EWS), go to Network > Wireless and enter your Wi-Fi details manually.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
