@CazTSpain, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble connecting your HP DeskJet 2720e to your 5GHz Wi-Fi network. I can help clarify this for you.

Important Note:

The HP DeskJet 2720e only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks. It does not support 5GHz bands, which is why it won’t detect or connect to your 5G network.

What You Can Do:

Here are a few steps to get your printer connected:

Check Your Router Settings

  • Most modern routers broadcast both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
  • Ensure that the 2.4GHz band is enabled on your router.
  • If both bands have the same name (SSID), consider renaming them (e.g., HomeWiFi_2.4 and HomeWiFi_5G) to make it easier to select the correct one.

Reconnect Your Printer Using HP Smart App

  • Download the HP Smart app from the HP Smart website. HP Smart
  • Open the app and follow the steps to add a new printer.
  • When prompted to select a Wi-Fi network, choose your 2.4GHz network.

Reset Network Settings on the Printer (if needed)

  • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons on the printer for 5 seconds until the Power light blinks.
  • This will reset the wireless settings and allow you to set up the connection again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Max3Aj

Thank you so much for your conc8sen and simple reply. I only wish it had come sooner - not your fault BTW. I went on a search through the Internet, found a help 'group' and ended up on JustAnswer. Prior to going into it, I was promised that it would only cost me 5€ and that would be refunded to me. I should have known better, but I was getting desperate, frustrated and angry. I hate it when I can't master technology.....

I followed the breadcrumbs, filled everything out and away I went (I did 'see' it was going to cost me 38€, but I believed the promise of 5€ and a refund).

I had a brilliant young man who was so patient with my, by then, impatient efforts to sort out the problem. It was exactly, almost word for word, what you answered above and I achieved it. I was very proud until I spotted the charge on my bank account. I queried this with JustAnswer, who obviously knew nothing of my previous advice and were somewhat jaded with people saying 'they didn't realise they were being charged' and although they cancelled my membership immediately, no refund would be forthcoming. Scammed.......not their fault!

Unfortunately,  the printer still wouldn't print - it tried it's best though. That's when I knew that it was almost certainly an ink cartridge problem. The new cartridges have arrived, but I've been too busy to install them.

My apologies for this epic post, I felt it was important to  a) to thank you and b) let anyone who might read this in the future, know about this scam.

Kind regards

Carol

(ps I'm 73)
