HP Neverstop Laser MFP 1202w

I have tried the recommended steps to reconnect my printer to the WiFi, but it will not connect to the Wifi.  When I try to connect it as a new printer the wifi button (normally blue) turns amber and the red x button flashes on/off.   Not sure what to do, any ideas?

Hi @-MixRon-PP,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP Neverstop Laser MFP 1202w shows an amber WiFi light and a red X, it typically indicates a connection issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Restart Devices: Power cycle the printer, router, and any devices you're using to connect. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connection issues.

Check WiFi Signal: Ensure the printer is within range of your WiFi network. Move it closer to the router if possible.

Reconnect to WiFi:

  • On Printer: Press the WiFi button until the light starts blinking, indicating the printer is in setup mode.
  • Using HP Smart App: Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device and follow the prompts to reconnect the printer to your WiFi network.
  • Using Printer’s Control Panel: Navigate to the network settings on the printer and select your WiFi network. Enter the password if prompted.

Check for Interference: Other electronic devices or networks could be causing interference. Try turning off other devices and see if the connection improves.

Update Firmware: Ensure that the printer's firmware is up-to-date. You might need to connect the printer to your computer via USB temporarily to perform the update.

Reset Network Settings:

  • On the printer, navigate to the network settings and look for an option to reset or restore network settings to default. Reconfigure the WiFi settings afterward.

Check Router Settings: Ensure that your router’s settings are not blocking the printer. Verify that the network settings (e.g., frequency band, security type) are compatible with the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
