Hi @Butch1949

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m here to help you sort this out step by step! The orange information light on your HP DeskJet 2710e typically indicates that the printer needs attention, such as a connection issue, low ink, or a paper-related problem.

Let’s troubleshoot this together:

1. Check for Error Messages

  • Look at the printer’s display or the HP Smart app on your computer or phone. It might provide more details about why the orange light is on.

2. Inspect Ink Cartridges

  • Open the printer and check if the ink cartridges are properly installed.
  • Remove each cartridge, inspect it for any protective tape (if newly installed), and reinsert it securely.
  • If the ink is low or empty, replace the cartridges.

3. Check for Paper Issues

  • Ensure there’s no paper jam or misaligned paper in the input or output tray.
  • Remove and reload the paper stack, making sure it’s aligned properly.

4. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 2-3 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can clear temporary errors.

5. Reconnect to Wi-Fi

  • If the orange light is related to a wireless connection issue, press the Wireless button (blue) and the Information button (orange) together to reset the connection.
  • Use the HP Smart app to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

6. Update Printer Firmware

7. Run a Diagnostic Test

  • Press and hold the Information button until a test page prints. This page might provide clues about the issue.

You’re doing great by tackling this step by step! Let me know how it goes or if you need further clarification on any of these steps. 🌟
