Hi @AGCSPC,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
Seeing an E0 error on your HP DeskJet 4130e typically means the printer is experiencing a "Cartridge Communication Error." This happens when the printer can't electronically "talk" to one or both of the ink cartridges, often due to a bit of dried ink on the gold contacts or a cartridge that isn't seated perfectly in its slot.
- Reset the printer to clear the temporary error code.
- With the printer turned on, pull the power cord directly from the back of the unit.
- Unplug the other end of the power cord from the wall outlet and wait for 60 seconds.
- Plug the cord back into the wall and then into the printer, then wait for it to finish its startup sequence to see if the E0 cleared.
- Clean the electronic contacts on the cartridges and the carriage.
- Open the cartridge access door and remove both the Black and Tri-color cartridges.
- Use a dry, lint-free cloth (like a coffee filter) to gently wipe the small gold-colored contacts on the back of each cartridge.
- Lightly wipe the corresponding gold pins inside the printer's carriage to remove any microscopic debris, then firmly snap the cartridges back into place.
- Identify if a single cartridge is causing the fault.
- Remove the Black cartridge and leave only the Tri-color one in the printer, then close the door.
- Check if the E0 error changes to a different message or if the "Ink" icon for the missing cartridge blinks; if the E0 persists, swap them and try with only the Black cartridge.
- If the error disappears when one specific cartridge is removed, that cartridge is likely defective and needs to be replaced to resume printing.
For a visual guide on these steps, please refer to the official HP DeskJet 2700, 4100, 4800 printers - Blinking Lights and Errors support page.
When you tried the "Single Cartridge" test in Step 3, did the E0 error stay on the screen for both cartridges or just one of them?
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
