Hi @Jess1713,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your computer can't find your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M180nw printer, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Check Connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer via USB cable or connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Restart Devices: Sometimes a simple restart can solve connectivity issues. Restart both your computer and your printer.
- Update Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer. Visit the HP support website, enter your printer model, and download the latest drivers for your operating system.
- Check Printer Status: Ensure that the printer is turned on and not displaying any error messages.
- Printer Settings: Access the printer settings menu from the control panel of the printer and ensure that it is set to be discoverable on the network.
- Firewall/Antivirus: Your firewall or antivirus software might be blocking the connection. Temporarily disable them and check if the printer is detected.
- IP Configuration: Assign a static IP address to your printer to avoid any IP conflicts. You can usually do this through the printer's control panel or the printer settings accessed through a web browser.
- Printer Queue: Check the printer queue on your computer to see if there are any stuck print jobs. Clearing the queue might resolve the issue.
- Reset Network Settings: Reset the network settings on your printer and then set it up again from scratch.
- Test on Another Device: If possible, try connecting the printer to another computer or device to see if the issue is specific to your computer.
By going through these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue of your computer not finding your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M180nw printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
