Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.
HP Recommended

I came home after being gone for a day and went to print and nothing happened.  My computer showed my printer as default so I didn't know what was going on.  I tried several times to print .  I can't remember all the things I did.  (I am not tech savvy) but eventually after not getting anywhere I removed the printer and tried to add it again and it won't show up as a printer to be added.  I then went to the smart app and it still wouldn't add it.  I did the turning off of the route,r then printer, turned them back on and still nothing.

Right now the power light is on and the wi-fi light is blinking.  I went through the tips in the user manual for wi-fi and connectivity and still nothing.

PLEASE HELP!!

Hi @colin5122,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having trouble reconnecting your HP Smart Tank printer to your network, which is a common issue that can occur after being away from home or due to network changes. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

Check Printer Power and Connections:

  • Ensure your printer is turned on and properly connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer or mobile device.
  • Check that the Wi-Fi icon on the printer is lit or not blinking, which indicates that it is connected to the network.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart your printer, computer, and router. Often, simply restarting your devices can resolve many connectivity issues.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Install the drivers on your computer, following the on-screen instructions.

Use HP App:

  • Open the HP app on your computer or mobile device.
  • If the app can't find your printer, click on "Add Printer" and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect your printer to the network.

Check Network Configuration:

  • Ensure that both the printer and your computer/mobile device are connected to the same network.
  • If using a dual-band router, ensure both devices are on the same frequency (either 2.4GHz or 5GHz).

Check for Firmware Updates:

Manual IP Address Assignment:

  • Sometimes assigning a static IP address to your printer through your router’s settings can help maintain a stable network connection.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
