iOS

This is an HP OfficeJetPro 8020 series.  I had an 8620 and it died.  I'm now trying to print from my iPhone. When I try to print something, like a phone, I get to the Options screen where the Printer option says 'No Printer Selected'. I tap the arrow and then tap on my printer. It returns to the Options screen, displays my printer name for a few seconds, then switches back to 'No Printer Selected' . Very frustrating.

I tried HP Smart for the iPhone and it can't find any printers when I select 'Already connected to network' under choose a printer to add.

Hi @SteveofLA,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering connectivity issues between your iPhone and your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 printer. Let's try a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve this.

  • Check Printer Connectivity: Ensure that your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 is properly connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone. You can do this by printing a network configuration page from the printer's control panel. Make sure the Wi-Fi indicator on the printer is solid or blinking indicating a connection.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix connectivity issues. Try restarting both your iPhone and your printer. Turn them off, wait a minute, then turn them back on.
  • Update Firmware/Software: Make sure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Check for any available updates through the printer's settings menu or HP's website. Also, ensure your iPhone's software is up-to-date by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
  • Forget and Reconnect Wi-Fi: On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, then select the Wi-Fi network your printer is connected to and tap "Forget This Network". Then reconnect to the network and try printing again.
  • Reset Printer Network Settings: You can try resetting the network settings on your printer. This usually involves going into the printer's menu and finding the network settings or network setup options. Consult your printer's manual for instructions specific to your model.
  • Reinstall HP Smart App: If you're using the HP Smart app, try uninstalling it from your iPhone, then reinstalling it from the App Store. Sometimes a fresh installation can resolve issues.
  • Check Printer Sharing Settings: Make sure printer sharing is enabled on your printer, allowing other devices on the network to access it. This setting is usually found in the printer's menu.

Try these steps and let me know if any of them resolve the issue!

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
