Common problems for Connectivity Issues

My new tank printer keeps going offline

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it can be when a new HP Smart Tank printer keeps showing as offline.

A couple of questions to help narrow this down:

  • What is the exact Smart Tank model (7602, 7005, 6001, etc.)?  
  • Does the printer show offline on all devices or only on one computer? 
  • Is the printer connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network or a 5 GHz network?


Please try the following recommended steps:

1. Restart All Devices

  • Turn off the printer. 
  • Restart your computer or mobile device. 
  • Restart your router if the printer is connected via Wi-Fi. 
  • Turn the printer back on and check if it stays online. 


2. Verify the Wi-Fi Connection

  • Make sure the printer and your computer/phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network
  • Check that the printer's wireless light is solid blue. If it is blinking or off, the printer is not fully connected to the network. 


3. Run Diagnose & Fix in the HP App

  • Open the HP App
  • Select your printer. 
  • Click Diagnose & Fix and allow the tool to complete. 
  • Follow any recommendations it provides. 


4. Remove and Re-Add the Printer

  • Open the HP App. 
  • Remove the printer from the app. 
  • Close and reopen the app. 
  • Select Add Printer and complete the setup again. 


5. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Open the HP App. 
  • Go to Advanced Settings > Printer Updates
  • Install any available firmware updates.
