Hello @Commander3, Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I understand that your HP Photosmart Plus All-in-One Printer (B209a) has stopped connecting to Wi-Fi, and your router's WPS feature is locked out. This can happen when the printer loses its saved network connection or the router temporarily prevents WPS pairing.
Step 1: Restore the printer's network settings
If the printer is still trying to use an old or incorrect network configuration, restoring its network defaults can help.
- On the printer's control panel, open Setup or Network settings.
- Look for Restore Network Defaults or Reset to Network Defaults, if available.
- Confirm the reset and wait for the printer to finish.
- Menu names may vary slightly. This resets network settings, not necessarily all printer settings.
Step 2: Connect manually using the Wireless Setup Wizard
The HP Photosmart Plus B209a supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, so make sure your router has a compatible 2.4 GHz network enabled.
- Open the printer's Network settings.
- Select Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Wait for the printer to search for available wireless networks.
- Select your home Wi-Fi network from the list.
- Enter your Wi-Fi password carefully and confirm the connection.
- You can use this method even when WPS is locked out because it does not require WPS pairing.
- Once connected, check the printer's wireless indicator. A steady blue light generally indicates an established wireless connection; consult the printer's user guide if the light behaves differently.
- If your Wi-Fi network does not appear: Check that the router's 2.4 GHz band is enabled and that the network is visible. If your router uses one Wi-Fi name for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, you may not need to separate the bands, provided the router allows compatible devices to connect.
Step 3: Add the printer to your Chromebook
After the printer successfully connects to Wi-Fi, you can try adding it to ChromeOS.
- Connect your Chromebook to the same local network as the printer.
- Open ChromeOS Settings and search for Printers.
- Open the printer settings and select Add printer.
- If the HP Photosmart Plus B209a appears, select it and follow the prompts.
- If it does not appear automatically, look for a manual-add option. If available, enter the printer's IP address from its network configuration information.
- ChromeOS menu names vary by version. If the printer is not detected, confirm that the Chromebook and printer are on the same local network and that the router is not isolating wireless devices.
Could you please confirm two things?
- Wireless light: Is the printer's blue wireless light blinking, solid, or off after you run the Wireless Setup Wizard?
- Wi-Fi network: Can the printer see your Wi-Fi network name in the list of available networks, or does it report that no networks are found?
Have a great day!
