Hi @Liswatson33

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m really sorry your printer is showing an error when you try to print—especially after you’ve already restarted everything and checked the network. That kind of disruption can be incredibly frustrating, but we’ll work through a clean reset to help clear the error and get you printing again.

Step-by-step actions to clear printer error and restore printing

1. Power cycle both printer and router

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from power.
  • Unplug your router and wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug in the router and wait until it’s fully online.
  • Plug in and power on the printer.

This refreshes both the network and the printer’s internal state.

2. Clear the print queue and reset the spooler

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Scroll to Print Spooler, right-click, and select Stop.
  3. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files in that folder.
  4. Return to Services, right-click Print Spooler, and select Start.

3. Remove and re-add the printer

  1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  2. Select your printer and click Remove device.
  3. Open the HP App from the Microsoft Store or:
    HP App – HP Site
  4. Click Add Printer and follow the prompts to reconnect.

4. Run the Diagnose & Fix tool

Let me know how the printer responds after these steps. If the error persists, we can explore driver reinstalls or alternate connection methods next. You’ve done everything right by staying persistent—I’ll be here to guide you further if needed.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
