Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

HP Officejet 6500A+

I’ve had this Officejet 6500A printer for just over three years now, and it has performed well until the past few days. Now, it no longer recognizes my router or even displays an IP address so I can manually add it as a verified device. The router hasn’t changed, nor have the settings or the locations of either the router or the printer. The printer does recognize my network SSID, but refuses to connect to my Wi-Fi network. The display shows zero bars of signal, although Verizon paid me a home visit today and confirmed that I have full Internet service and that the router is operating properly. Is this just the end of the road for this printer, or am I missing something here? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the PC

 

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore network settings

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard and select your network.

 

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the PC should be on the 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.
  • Check if the wireless blue light is steady.

Thanks for the expert advice, Friend. I performed the off/on procedure many times to no avail. I DID NOT know about the dual-band consideration on my modem. It is set up with the same SSID for both 2.4 and 5.0 settings. I’ll get into the guts of it as soon as I can and see if I can assign a different SSID for each. If nothing else, this represents a DIFFERENT solution. Ideally it will resolve this issue and will also solve the “No Air Printers Found” problem I encounter just about every time I try to print. Thanks again for your help. I’ll follow up.

Kumar0307. - I followed the advice you provided and found that I was unable to assign separate SSIDs for each band of my 2.4GHz and 5.0GHZ dual-band router. It allows only one SSID for the entire unit. 

As a test, I was able to disable the 5.0 band and create a new “Guest” network SSID” which I then selected as the Network on my iPhone and the printer did connect to that network. Unfortunately, whenever I try to print anything from my phone, I still receive the dreaded “No AirPrint Printers Found” message. This is really becoming maddening! Did I miss something?

The printer may not work on a guest network. Kindly contact your Internet service provider to split the network into 2 such as 2.4GHz and 5GHz network.

Once done, connect the printer to the 2.4GHz network.

 

If you are using a MAC, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.

Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.
