Hi @kofi200,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your printer is showing as offline and you are unable to print, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Steps to Fix Printer Offline Issue:
Check Printer Power and Connection:
- Ensure the printer is turned on and properly connected to the power source.
- Make sure the printer is connected to your computer or network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) securely.
Restart Printer and Computer:
- Turn off your printer and computer.
- Wait for about 30 seconds, then turn them back on.
Check Printer Status:
- Go to the Control Panel (Windows) or System Preferences (Mac).
- Select "Devices and Printers" (Windows) or "Printers & Scanners" (Mac).
- Locate your printer and make sure it is set as the default printer.
- Right-click on the printer and select "See what's printing" (Windows) or click on the printer in the list (Mac).
- In the printer queue window, ensure "Use Printer Offline" is not checked.
Clear Print Queue:
- Open the print queue as described above.
- Cancel all documents in the queue to clear any stuck print jobs.
Re-add Printer:
- Remove the printer from your list of devices.
- Re-add the printer using the “Add a printer” wizard in the Control Panel or System Preferences.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Go to the printer HP website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
- Install the updated drivers on your computer.
Run Printer Troubleshooter (Windows):
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Select "Printer" and run the troubleshooter to identify and fix issues.
Check Printer Network Connection:
- If your printer is connected via Wi-Fi, make sure it is connected to the correct network.
- Restart your router to refresh the network connection.
- Print a network configuration page from the printer's control panel to check the printer's IP address and network status.
Assign a Static IP Address:
- Sometimes assigning a static IP address to your printer can resolve connectivity issues.
- This can usually be done from the printer's control panel or through the router's settings.
Reset Printing System (Mac):
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control-click) on the printer list and select "Reset printing system."
- This will remove all printers and reset the printing system. Re-add your printer afterward.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
