@Lucworld, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I understand your HP OfficeJet 8025e is connected to Wi-Fi and works fine for printing, but your MacBook Pro cannot detect it when trying to scan. Let’s walk through the steps to resolve this:

Confirm Printer is on the Same Network

Make sure both your MacBook Pro and the printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network (SSID). You can check the printer’s network status by:

  • On the printer control panel, tap Wi-Fi icon or go to Settings > Network Setup > Wireless Settings.
  • Confirm it shows “Connected” and the same network name as your Mac.

Restart Devices

Sometimes a simple restart helps:

  1. Power off your printer and unplug it for 30 seconds.
  2. Restart your MacBook.
  3. Power the printer back on and wait until it reconnects to Wi-Fi.

Reinstall HP Smart App

The HP Smart app is essential for scanning on macOS:

  1. Uninstall the HP Smart app if already installed. HP Smart
  2. Download the latest version from the Mac App Store.
  3. Open HP Smart and add your printer again.

Reset Printing System (if needed)

If the printer still doesn’t show up:

  1. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and choose “Reset printing system…”.
  3. Re-add your printer using the “+” button.

Try Scanning Again

  • Open HP Smart and click Scan.
  • If it still says “No scanner found,” try using Preview > File > Import from Scanner or Image Capture (built-in macOS apps).

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
