Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Been having a fair amount of power and internet outages lately. It was working fine a few days ago. When I open up the HP app it doesn't see the printer anywhere, I have even tried to search for it using the IP address, even though it isn't showing. I have unplugged, disconnected, everything from the printer, router, modem, and computer trying to get it to work. I even found a printer cable and plugged it into the printer and computer and it still doesn't register. The printer is only a little over three years old and isn't used enough to wear it out. HELP!!

Hello @CherieB1025, and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

Given the recent power and internet outages, it's likely the printer lost its network configuration. Here's a step-by-step guide to get your HP wireless printer reconnected:

Restart Everything in Proper Order

  • Power off your printer, router, and computer
  • Wait 30 seconds, then power on the router first
  • Once the router is fully booted, power on the printer, then the computer

Restore Network Settings on the Printer

  • On the printer control panel, go to:
    • Setup > Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults
  • Confirm the reset. This clears old Wi-Fi settings.

Reconnect to Wi-Fi

  • On the printer, go to:
    • Setup > Network Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard
  • Select your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and enter the password
  • Wait for the printer to connect. You should see a solid blue Wi-Fi light and an IP address on the display.

Reinstall or Reconnect via HP Smart App

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device
  • If the printer isn’t detected:
    • Click “+ Add Printer”
    • If prompted, enter the printer’s IP address (you can find this on the printer display once connected)
  • If needed, download HP Smart: HP Smart

USB Cable Not Working?

  • If the printer doesn’t respond via USB:
    • Try a different USB port on your computer
    • Use a different USB cable if available
    • Ensure the printer is powered on and not in sleep mode

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
