HP 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-c0000 (2W0J6AV)

I had to reset my wifi modem. I am trying to reconnect my printer to my wifi. However, it seems as though a lot of the features on my printer are locked and when I click on them they say "The feature has been locked by the person who set up the printer". I am thinking that I need to do a factory reset, but cannot figure out how to as it is locked on the printer. I've looked up other ways and haven't had any luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @ks409,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your printer features are locked and you’re unable to reconnect it to Wi-Fi after resetting your modem. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this and how to reset the printer.

Identify why the features are locked
The message usually appears when the printer was set up with an HP account, admin lock, or managed settings.
This can prevent changes to Wi-Fi and setup options.

Restart the printer and network devices
Turn off the printer and unplug it for 60 seconds.
Restart your Wi-Fi modem/router completely, then power the printer back on.

Try a standard network reset (touchscreen models)
On the printer control panel, go to Settings or Setup > Network or Wireless Settings.
Select Restore Network Settings or Reset Network Settings if available.

Use the hardware key reset method
With the printer turned on, press and hold the Cancel (X) button and the Wireless button together for 5–10 seconds.
This resets wireless settings and often removes setup locks.

Attempt a full factory reset from the control panel
Open Settings > Printer Maintenance or Tools.
Select Restore Factory Defaults or Reset All Settings and confirm the reset.

Remove the printer from HP Smart
Open the HP Smart app on your phone or computer and sign in if prompted.
Remove the printer from the app to clear any account-based restrictions.

Reset printer using HP Smart (if panel is locked)
Open HP Smart, select the printer, and look for Advanced Settings or Reset options.
Some models allow factory or network resets directly from the app.

Set up the printer again on the new Wi-Fi
After the reset, put the printer in Wi-Fi setup mode and reopen HP Smart.
Follow the on-screen steps to reconnect the printer to your wireless network.

I hope this helps.
