Hi there @Albsan, and welcome to HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out with your concern. I'm glad to assist you today.

If you're trying to print from your iPhone using Wi-Fi Direct and the printer is asking for a password you’ve forgotten, you can reset or view the Wi-Fi Direct password directly from the printer's control panel. Here's how:

On the printer's touchscreen, tap the Wi-Fi Direct icon or:

  • Go to Settings > Network Setup > Wi-Fi Direct Settings.

Tap Wi-Fi Direct Name to confirm the printer name (e.g., DIRECT_82_HP OfficeJet Pro 6970).

Tap Wi-Fi Direct Password or Status:

  • If the password is visible, note it down.
  • If you want to change/reset it, tap Edit or Change Password.

Enter a new password (minimum 8 characters), then tap OK.

On your iPhone, go to Wi-Fi settings, select the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct name, and enter the new password.

Note: This password is not your HP account password. It’s only used for direct wireless printing via Wi-Fi Direct.

If the suggestions helped solve the problem, please let us know by clicking “Accepted Solution.” It really helps fellow users find quick answers.

A quick “Yes” also goes a long way in showing appreciation!

Take care and happy computing!

Best regards,
