Had networked this wireless Officejet Pro 1800 (OJP1800) previously with pc's, cell's, everything working.

  1) - Got new network provider with everything BUT OJP1800 recognized on network to print.

  2) - Network sees OJP1800 on one pc, but without correct description "(Officejet Pro 8100 (66985E)" and error on printing test page.

  3) - On other pc, I deleted the OJP8100 thinking network would find correct device, but cannot find OJP8100 in any form.

  4) - OJP8100 existed on old network for 3 yrs with no ethernet cat-5 cable to printer, is wireless to network.

  5) - have tried HP App on cell, to no avail.
  6) - Windows 11 on pcs, not sure on printer.

  7) - Let Windows manage printers (ON) ; Download Drivers and Divice Software (ON) ;  Windows Protected Print Mode (OFF)

Please suggest resolving network overlooking OJP8100.   Thank you!

Hi @Al_8100

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you have network recognition issues with your OfficeJet Pro 8100 after changing network providers,I would request you to please follow the steps:

Verify Network Connection

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Wireless Settings → Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Select your new Wi‑Fi network and enter the password.
  • Make sure you are connected with 2.4GHz network.
  • Print a Network Configuration Page (from the printer’s Reports menu) to confirm the printer is connected and shows the correct SSID and IP address.

Update Printer IP Address

  • On your PC, press Windows + R, type control printers, and press Enter.
  • Right‑click your OfficeJet Pro 8100 → Printer Properties → Ports tab.
  • Check the IP address listed.
  • If it doesn’t match the printer’s new IP (from the Network Configuration Page), click Configure Port and update it.
  • Alternatively, remove the old port and create a new Standard TCP/IP Port with the correct IP.

Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Go to HP Support → Drivers & Downloads → OfficeJet Pro 8100. https://support.hp.com/au-en/products
  • Download the latest full driver package for your operating system.
  • Uninstall the existing printer software from Programs and Features.
  • Reinstall using the downloaded package, ensuring you select the correct network printer during setup.

Reset Printer Network Settings

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup → Network Settings → Restore Network Defaults.
  • Confirm the reset.
  • Reconnect the printer to your new Wi‑Fi network using the Wireless Setup Wizard.

Remove and Re‑Add Printer on PC

  • On your PC, go to Devices and Printers.
  • Right‑click the OfficeJet Pro 8100 → select Remove Device.
  • Click Add a Printer → allow Windows to search for available printers.
  • Select your OfficeJet Pro 8100 from the list and complete the setup.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
