HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 Wide Format All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My spouse attempted to reset the network, and all network functions on the printer became "disabled by administrator". All setup functions from the printer side are no longer available, how can I fix this?

Hi @Seraphaguin,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer's network settings!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 has network settings locked by an administrator. To regain access, try the following steps:

Restore Network Defaults from the Printer Panel

Since the network settings are disabled, you may need to restore network settings:

  1. On the printer control panel, go to Setup.
  2. Navigate to Network Setup or Restore Defaults.
  3. Select Restore Network Settings.
  4. Restart the printer and try reconnecting to the network.

Reset Administrator Settings (Semi-Full Reset)

If network settings remain locked, you might need a semi-full reset:

  1. Power off the printer.
  2. Disconnect power cable from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for 60 seconds.
  4. Press and hold the Wi-Fi & Cancel buttons (or Back & OK buttons, depending on your model).
  5. While holding, plug the power cable back in and turn on the printer.
  6. Release the buttons once the printer starts.

This should reset administrator restrictions and allow you to reconfigure network settings.

Access Embedded Web Server (EWS)

If the printer is still on the network (but settings are disabled), you may be able to enable them via EWS:

  1. Find the printer’s IP address (Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer settings).
  2. Open a web browser and enter the IP address (e.g., http://192.168.1.100).
  3. Login (default username: admin, password may be admin or blank).
  4. Look for Network Settings or Admin Control.
  5. Enable the network functions and save the settings.

Factory Reset via HP Smart App (If Available)

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your Windows PC.
  2. Click Printer Settings > Advanced Settings.
  3. Navigate to Administrator Settings.
  4. Enable network functions or reset settings.

Let me know how it goes! 😊
