Hi, We have HP Laserjet Pro MFP M476dn. I've made a network summary and see that in the security section administrator password is not specified. Does it mean that admin password is not set? I couldn't find any information in documentation. Thanks.

Hello,

You will need to follow the instructions below to resolve the issue:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Turn on the printer, and then, as soon as the HP logo appears, press the lower right corner of the operation panel.
    Note:
    If the bottom right corner of the Permanent Storage Init. screen does not appear, repeat steps 1 and 2, but this time press the bottom left corner.
  3. When the message appears on the Permanent Storage Init. screen, drop the press on the printer control panel. The Initialization begins.
  4. When the printer has completed the Initialization, it returns to the Ready.

But I'm not sure that I understand what this procedure does. Is it some kind of password reset?

Thanks for your return;

Yes this procedure resets the printer to its factory default settings. So the administrator password requested when connecting to the printer's embedded web server will be deleted and all the control panel options will be available again after that.
