Thanks to the forced update on the HP Smart app I now can't so much as connect to the device.  The app is enabled with network permissions, but when launched consistently reads "Enable Local Network permission for the HP app".   This is enabled.  Full reinstalls of the app, reboots of my router and computer - nothing.   Setting the device for WPS connection - nope.   WiFi direct - nope.     Go ahead and roll back this app or provide a solution!  What gives HP?   You essentially bricked the Envy.

Hi @Itdontwerk,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Smart app on your Mac Sequoia is stuck on “Enable Local Network permission” and cannot connect to your Envy 6055e over Wi-Fi, even after reinstalling the app, rebooting devices, and trying WPS or Wi-Fi Direct. Let’s go through steps to fix this so you can restore scanning and printing.

Verify Local Network Permission

Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network.

Confirm the HP Smart app is checked. Even if it already shows enabled, toggle it off, restart your Mac, and then toggle it back on.

Check macOS Firewall & Network Security

Ensure your firewall isn’t blocking the HP Smart app.

If you use VPNs, proxies, or network security software, temporarily disable them during setup.

Remove and Re-add the Printer

Open System Settings → Printers & Scanners, remove the Envy 6055e, and then re-add it via Wi-Fi.

Make sure your Mac and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Reset the Printer’s Network Settings

On the Envy 6055e, go to Settings → Wireless → Restore Network Defaults.

Reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network manually (not using WPS).

Use HP Smart via Web / Alternative Scanning

Download the full HP drivers and software package for macOS from HP’s official site instead of relying solely on the HP Smart app.

macOS’ Image Capture app can scan to your Mac directly without HP Smart. Open Image Capture → select your printer → scan.

Clear HP Smart App Cache

Delete any HP-related preferences:

In Finder, go to ~/Library/Containers/ and remove the folder for HP Smart.

Go to ~/Library/Preferences/ and remove any com.hp.* files.

Reinstall HP Smart after this cleanup.

Ensure Printer Firmware is Up-to-Date

Connect the printer temporarily via USB if possible.

Run any firmware updates via HP software to ensure Wi-Fi functionality is stable.

I hope this helps.
