Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I am able to hardware my HP Pro 7740 to my Mac using Tahoe, but some of the print features are missing. I am also not able to set up using Bonjour wifi link. This is truly frustrating and why I stopped using Epsons long ago. They refused to update to latest Apple software, like we were a nuisance or unimportant client base. My printer is working fine, I hate to add it to the electronic waste pile because HP doesn't find the need to service Apple users 😞

Hi @wmaple

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm really sorry you're facing limited print features and Bonjour setup issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 on macOS Tahoe. That kind of friction—especially when the hardware is working perfectly—can feel deeply discouraging.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help restore full functionality.

Steps to Restore Full Print Features on macOS Tahoe

1. Use Apple’s Built-In AirPrint Support

macOS Tahoe may not list dedicated HP drivers, but AirPrint can still deliver core functionality.

  • Connect your printer via USB or network
  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
  • Click Add Printer
  • If your printer appears with “AirPrint” listed as the driver, select it and click Add

If AirPrint is selected but features are missing, continue with the next steps.

2. Install HP Easy Admin

This utility helps locate compatible drivers and configure older printers on newer macOS versions.

  • Visit: HP Easy Admin
  • Download and install the tool
  • Use it to search for available drivers or configure AirPrint-compatible setup

3. Download Latest Software Package

Even if macOS Tahoe isn’t listed, the latest macOS-compatible package may still install successfully.

  • Visit: HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Drivers
  • Select macOS from the dropdown (choose the closest available version)
  • Download the Full Software Solution or Basic Drivers
  • Install and restart your Mac

4. Reset Printing System

If Bonjour setup fails repeatedly:

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
  • Right-click in the printer list and choose Reset Printing System
  • Re-add your printer using Bonjour or IP address

5. Use HP App for Mobile Printing

If desktop features remain limited, you can print from your iPhone or iPad using the HP App.

  • Download the HP App from the App Store
  • Add your OfficeJet Pro 7740
  • Print documents stored in iCloud, Gmail, or other apps

Let me know if you'd like help identifying your printer’s Bonjour name or IP address. Once these steps are complete, your printer should regain most of its functionality—even without a dedicated macOS Tahoe driver.
