I moved and cannot get the printer to connect to my new WiFi ... I removed the printer from my laptop and now it won't discover it. I have two problems! The printer is out of warranty. I have done all the trouble shooting and available diagnostics. I am ready to take a hammer to this device. Been working on this problem for a week.

Hi @DKBarker,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your printer won’t connect to your new Wi-Fi network, and now your laptop can’t discover it after you removed it. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Power reset the printer and router

Turn the printer off and unplug it for 30 seconds.

Restart your Wi-Fi router as well.

Once both are back on, wait 1–2 minutes before trying setup again.

Confirm the printer is in Wi-Fi setup mode

Most HP printers need to be put into Wireless Setup Mode before a new network can be detected.

Press and hold the Wireless button for 3–5 seconds until it starts blinking.

If your model uses buttons, press Wireless + Cancel together to force setup mode.

Make sure the printer is close to the router

Place the printer within 3–6 feet of the router during setup.

Weak signal can prevent the laptop from discovering it.

Use the HP Smart app to set up the new network

Open HP Smart → Add PrinterSet Up a New Printer.

The app will search for printers in setup mode.

If it finds the printer, tap it and enter your new Wi-Fi password.

Verify you’re using a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network

Many HP printers cannot connect to a 5 GHz network.

Ensure your router is broadcasting 2.4 GHz and connect the printer to that network.

Forget the previous network inside the printer

On most models, press Wireless → Settings → Restore Network Settings.

For button-only printers, press Wireless + Cancel for 5 seconds to reset network settings.

I hope this helps.
