HP ENVY 6430e All-in-One Printer

I have the above printer.  My broadband package updated involving a new router. I have tried to set my printer up to the new router but it won’t find my printer. I deleted the HP Smart app and reinstalled now it wants me to sign up to a much more expensive package.  I only use the printer to print occasional sheet music for my daughter and do not want to pay more than the £4 a’month I was paying. Please can someone help

Click Spoiler if you have a new router, have not reset the printer, and nothing else changed.

Spoiler
New ISP, same old printers, PCs and smartphones: Log into the modem or router and change the SSID (names) of each band so the names are different. Create a numeric password identical for each band to simplify login. If you must use alphanumeric characters then do not use any from this set: ilL1oO0D8B5S as they are easily mixed up depending on the font used. Be sure to run the application (if any) that finds the best channel for each band. Your ISP should be able to do all of this for you if you need help.

If you configure the new router with:

  • The same SSID (network name) as the old router
  • The same Wi-Fi password
  • The same security type (typically WPA2-Personal or WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode)

Your printer may reconnect automatically. However, your PC may have an old IP address, but you can always tell the PC to find the printer, and it will obtain the new IP address.

You should be able to log into your old account.  Just select "login" and not "register"

If you cannot use the old passwords then

You may need to reset the printer: Click here

Wi-Fi setup to router: video here

For Wi-Fi direct setup click here.
This is useful if you do not have access to the router or you want to avoid using the router and print directly to the printer.
The printer needs to connect to the router as it needs to "phone home".  You can still print directly to the printer but it needs to be online.

Simple push button or WPS setup is described on page 28 of User Manual
