When I try to connect via the wizard, the printer can find my Wi-Fi network, but when I try to use WPS it will not connect.  When I try to use the password, it fails to connect. "Cannot connect to the network". The printed report shows "No Filtering Fail.

The set ip setting is locked to "automatic"  and won't allow me to set the ip manually. I had a static ip set for the printer previously so I know the ip to input if the printer would allow me. It won't. I set the router back to dhcp for this printer. Still won't  connect.

Mac filtering is set to "Allow-All".Tried manually adding mac address as the only allowable device with no luck.

Tried turning on mac filtering, manually adding mac address, then turning off mac filtering with no luck.

I have "reset network settings" from the menu.  I have factory reset. I have (hard) rebooted the router and the printer. The firmware is the most current.

The printer was connected to the network previously but needed to be reset and now won't connect to the network.

The router has no problems connecting  other devices.

I can't find a way to remove the  "memory" of the printers mac address from the router.  My router also has  5 Ghz band with the same SSID and Passphase, and has "Band steering" which directs new devices to the 2.4 Ghz or 5 GHz band depending on their capabilities and it is locked by the internet provider. It cannot be turned off.

I would like to make my printer look like a new/different printer (give it a new identity) so that I can just connect it as a new device. Perhaps that would work but I'm pretty sure you can't change the mac address of a device. Nor should that be necessary.

I really need help here.

Hi,

Try temporarily connecting the printer to your PC with a USB or with Ethernet cable to your router, then install the latest printer firmware from your PC and check for any difference:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/oj6500/OJ6500_E710n-z_R1621A.exe

If the same persists, make sure your router is up to date as well with its latest firmware, also ensure it’s set with WPA1/WPA2 security as the printer doesn’t support WPA3 as an example.

Please let me know if that helps,

Shlomi

Hi thanks for the suggestion. I will try when i get home by the weekend. I'll keep you posted.

As a side note the firmware is current. There have been no firmware updates for this printer since 2016 from what i can see on HP's official site.  If you know of a more recent firmware for this printer please let me know.

The router is entirely managed by my service provider. Its a Xfinity XB6. I will ask them if there's a firmware update thats yet to be pushed through.

I've read on numerous posts that there's a complete reset procedure outside of the hard power down and power drain. Are you aware of this procedure? Right now I'll try anything.

I've already factory reset the printer and reset it to network defaults many many times.

Thank you again for responding.

Hi again.

Ok I connected the printer via cat5 cable to modem/router and its on the network and i am able to send print jobs to the printer.

I can access the printers EWS page via the current connection. Whats the next steps to making a wireless connection work?

Thank you once again.
