Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

LaserJet Pro M402dw

The question is simple, it's been asked numerous times in this forum, and never answered, so far as I can see.

The question is this; why is there no "wireless setup wizard" on my printer? And the second question is like unto it: how can I set up my printer for wireless networking without trying 50 different things for 2 hours every time I try to do it?

Note: telling me to press the wireless icon button and then select Wireless setup wizard does NOT count as an acceptable answer. If it were there, I would have selected it. As so many people have indicated, it is not there. It's not that we don't know how to read and follow your instructions. It. Is. Not. There. I want someone to indicate here, in these forums, maybe here as an answer to my question, how to get it there, or how to do a wireless setup without it. It's not right that this question should never be answered.

Just to confirm, the printer I am trying to set up had been working, but I don't know whether it was on WiFi direct or network printing or what. I didn't do the initial setup. But something changed in our wireless network, the person can't print, and I'm trying to fix it. I have just restored it to the default settings, because I wasn't getting anywhere. I need to get this working, an hour ago, so any help you can send will be useful when I can come back to it next week.

The user is a Mac user, but I am sitting here with both platforms at my disposal and am happy to use either one, I don't care, to get the setup done. From there, I assume, once it's on the network, it can be reached from any other networked computer, whether Mac or Windows. I can't even think of anything I can tell you. HP Smart can't find my printer. I don't know if I should manually turn WiFi on or leave it off. The thing says "If you are connecting an HP LaserJet, click here," and that brings me to the part that says to turn WiFi OFF, and then click on settings (nonexistent) and select Wireless Setup Wizard (nonexistent).

And here we are.

Hello,

Hope you are fine, this printer has LCD screen and buttons to navigate thru the menu, at a difference to the wireless model, you may find the wireless menu by navigating the set up menu, but it does not have a wizard that show the SSIDs, you may press ok,  and use the right arrow to go thru the set up menu Network setup , press ok again and then  select wireless menu, then use the wifi protected set up, it will say press button, go to your modem and press the WPS button and then press Ok on the printer, the printer will start the connection automatically thru WPS with the modem.

Other way to connect to wifi is by using an USB cable, connect the printer and computer with the USB cable and then install the HP software. Once you run the Hp smart software it will detect the printer on USB, but also there will be an option called : Set up wireless printer for first time , you may select it and choose your wifi and go next until it gets connected, once its connected you may unplug the USB.

Last option for connection is by using an ethernet cable , connect printer and modem, it will generate an IP address, put that IP address into a web browser URL and hit enter to access the web server of the printer, o to networking and then select wireless configuration,  turn the feature on and select your wifi and also include the password then hit apply. Unplug the ethernet cable and install the printer wirelessly now with the new wireless connection IP address.
