@Cdc726, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 series printer is not responding to wireless print commands from your Dell laptop or iPhone XR, you can follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

1. Check Wireless Connection

Ensure that the printer is connected to the same wireless network as your devices. Verify the connection by checking the wireless light on the printer. A solid light indicates a stable connection, while a blinking light might suggest a connectivity issue.

2. Restart Devices

  • Printer: Turn off the printer and unplug it for about 30 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Laptop and iPhone: Restart both devices to refresh the network settings.

3. Reestablish Network Connection

You can try disconnecting and then reconnecting the printer to your network:

  • On the printer control panel, go to the Wireless/ Network menu.
  • Select Restore Network Settings to disconnect and then reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.

4. Update Printer Firmware

Ensure your printer's firmware is up-to-date, which can help resolve connectivity issues. Visit the HP Support page to download the latest firmware.

5. Use the HP Smart App

For the iPhone, consider using the HP Smart App to ensure the printer is added correctly:

  • Download the HP Smart App from the App Store.
  • Follow the app's instructions to add your printer and test printing.

6. Check for Network Congestion

Too many devices connected to the same network might cause interruptions. Disconnect a few devices to see if it improves the connection to the printer.

7. Run the Wireless Network Test

  • Access the printer's control panel.
  • Swipe down to open the Dashboard and touch the Setup icon.
  • Navigate to Reports and print a Wireless Test Report. This report can help diagnose any network-related issues.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
