Hi @MaryBeth13,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP printer shows "Error 01" related to Wi-Fi connectivity. It typically indicates that the printer is not successfully connected to a wireless network. Here are the steps to help resolve this issue:

Check Wireless Signal: Ensure the wireless (802.11) light on your printer's control panel is on. If the light is not on, Wi-Fi may be disabled. You can turn it on by accessing the control panel, tapping the wireless icon, and navigating to 'Settings > Wireless > On'.

Restart Network Devices:

  • Turn off your wireless router and printer.
  • Wait a few moments, then turn on the router first, followed by your printer.
  • If the connection is still unstable, consider restarting your computer as well.

Run Wireless Network Test: Print a Wireless Network Test page from the printer’s control panel to diagnose problems. This can provide recommendations based on the findings.

Check IP Configuration:

  • On your printer’s control panel, ensure it displays an IP address. This confirms network communication.

  • If the printer was previously set to a specific IP address, make sure it hasn't changed. Consider configuring the printer with a fixed IP address via the control panel by going to Settings > Advanced setup and changing IP settings to 'Manual'.

Move Closer to Router: If the printer is far from the router, try moving it closer to ensure a stronger signal.

Check for Ethernet Cable: Ensure there isn't any Ethernet cable connected, as this can disable Wi-Fi functionality.

Firmware Update: If the issue persists, try updating your printer's firmware. You can download the latest firmware https://support.hp.com/us-en and install it on your printer using a USB flash drive.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
