I put my Wi-Fi information, and I have a steady blue light. Every time I try to print, I have to click on "connect". It also can't read my ink levels for smart ink, because it tells me it's not connected. But, it is.

Hi @doreenb,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY 5012 is experiencing intermittent connectivity issues with your Wi-Fi. Here's a series of steps to help resolve this problem:
1. Restart the Printer, Router, and Computer
- Power cycle the printer, your router, and the computer you’re printing from.
- Unplug the router for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Do the same for your printer and computer.
2. Check Printer's Wireless Connection
- Ensure the printer is still connected to the Wi-Fi network.
- On the printer control panel, go to Wireless > Wireless Settings > Wireless Network Test Report to see if the connection is stable.
3. Forget and Reconnect to Wi-Fi
- Forget the Wi-Fi network on your printer and reconnect it.
- Go to Wireless > Settings > Wi-Fi Setup Wizard and follow the prompts to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
4. Check Printer's IP Address
- Sometimes, the printer may be assigned a dynamic IP address that changes after each restart, causing it to lose connection. You can set a static IP address for the printer through the router's admin page, ensuring it always connects to the same IP.
5. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Visit the HP website or use the HP Smart app to check for updates.
6. Reinstall HP Smart App or Printer Drivers
- Uninstall and reinstall the HP Smart app or printer drivers on your computer. This can help resolve any software conflicts preventing the connection.
7. Check Your Wi-Fi Settings
- If your router uses dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), ensure the printer is connected to the 2.4 GHz band as the printer may not support the 5 GHz band.
- Check that your router is not blocking the printer’s MAC address or using settings like WPA3 security, which some printers may not support.

That's a lot to comprehend! I will try some tomorrow. It is not hooked to a computer. I only have it through Wi-Fi.
I just moved, and the same thing was happening at my apartment before I moved. It just started out of the blue. So it has been unplugged and restarted, and it has even been changed to a new router, so I know those are not the problems, because I had the same problem at both locations.
