Not sure how to connect my 2700 to my new router for wifi printing.

My MacBook Air and iPhone are connected but can't work out how to add a WAP2 password or even where to find one.

Hi @Wipeout100,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to set up your HP DeskJet 2700 All-in-One Printer to your new router for Wi-Fi printing should be relatively straightforward. Here's a step-by-step guide:

  • Access the Printer's Control Panel: Make sure your printer is powered on. Navigate to the control panel on the printer itself. You should see a small screen or display panel with various buttons.
  • Navigate to Wi-Fi Setup: Using the control panel, navigate to the Wi-Fi setup or wireless settings option. This might be labeled differently depending on your printer model, but it typically involves pressing a button like "Settings" or "Wireless Setup."
  • Select Wi-Fi Network: Once you're in the Wi-Fi setup menu, your printer should detect available Wi-Fi networks. Select your new router's network from the list.
  • Enter Wi-Fi Password: After selecting your network, the printer will prompt you to enter the Wi-Fi password. This is the WPA2 password you mentioned. Use the keypad on the control panel to input the password. Be careful to enter it correctly, as it's case-sensitive.
  • Connect and Test: Once you've entered the password, the printer will attempt to connect to your Wi-Fi network. This process may take a minute or two. Once connected, the printer should display a confirmation message.
  • Test Printing: After successfully connecting the printer to your Wi-Fi network, try printing a test page from your MacBook Air or iPhone. Make sure they're connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
  • If you encounter any issues during this process, such as not being able to find the WPA2 password for your new router, you'll need to access your router's settings to retrieve it. Here's how you can typically find it:
  • Router Settings: Open a web browser on a device connected to your new router, such as your MacBook Air. Enter your router's IP address into the address bar. This address is often something like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. You can usually find this information on a sticker on your router or in the router's manual.
  • Login to Router: You'll be prompted to enter a username and password to access the router's settings. This login information is usually admin/admin or admin/password by default, but it might vary depending on your router model. Again, you can find this information on the router or in its manual.
  • Retrieve Wi-Fi Password: Once logged in, navigate to the wireless or Wi-Fi settings section of the router's settings. Here, you should be able to find your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and its associated password (WPA2 passphrase). Note down the password.
  • Enter Password in Printer: Return to your printer's Wi-Fi setup menu and enter the WPA2 password you retrieved from your router's settings.

Hi Gaya 1239

Thank you so so much for replying to my cry for help but I am not able to follow the wonderful instructions that you sent me...

I have a DeskJet 2700 All-in-one printer series.

On the control panel I have a very tiny screen that just gives information (ink levels, no.of copies, and WiFi strength signal)

there is no menu, nothing to navigate to and no navigation buttons. I have a flashing blue light on WiFi button and this signifies it is not joined to the router. See photos below.

When I use 'HP Smart' on my MacBook the printer and WiFi do not seem to 'see' each other,  and there is no 'HP Setup' in the WiFi list to connect to.

I do not seem to have anything on the printer to prompt me to do anything.

The biggest problem seems to be the lack of wireless connection between the printer and HP Smart to pick up the printer.

I have just upgraded my broadband and I did not have any problem with the previous broadband and printer.

I will ask the universe to intervene. LoL

Thank you again
