Hi @Morganmb,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to have your printer show as ready but not respond when you try to print. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
Check Physical Connections:
- Ensure that the printer is properly plugged into a power source and turned on.
- Verify that the USB or network cables (if applicable) are securely connected to both the printer and your computer or network router.
Restart Printer and Devices:
- Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
- Restart your computer or the device from which you are trying to print.
Check Wi-Fi Connection (If Applicable):
- If your printer is connected wirelessly, ensure that it is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. Sometimes, printers can connect to a different network if there are multiple available.
- You may need to reconfigure the Wi-Fi settings on your printer to ensure it's properly connected.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve bugs or connectivity issues.
Check Print Queue:
- On your computer or device, check the print queue to see if there are any stuck print jobs. Canceling these jobs and trying to print again might resolve the issue.
Reinstall Printer Drivers (If Necessary):
- Sometimes, reinstalling the printer drivers on your computer can fix connectivity problems. You can usually download the latest drivers from the HP website.
Check for Error Messages:
- If there are any error messages displayed on the printer or your computer, take note of them as they can provide clues to what might be causing the issue.
Reset Printer Settings (If Needed):
- As a last resort, you can reset the printer to its factory settings. This will erase all custom settings, so it's advisable to do this only if other troubleshooting steps have failed.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
