Hello. I have a several year old OJ8740 AIO. I was using Web Services to check on updates. One day this past week. this stopped working. I have tried everything I could find to resolve this including switching from Ethernet to Wireless and removing Web Services so I could reinstall it. Nothing works, and everything, including reinstalling Web Services, results in the following. Does anyone have an idea?

@GaryKarasik, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Restart Everything
Turn off your printer, router, and computer.
Wait 1 minute.
Turn them back on in this order: Router → Printer → Computer.
Remove & Re-add Web Services
On the printer screen:
Go to Settings > Web Services > Remove Web Services.
Restart the printer.
Go back to Settings > Web Services > Enable Web Services.
Check Date & Time
Go to Settings > Preferences > Date and Time.
Make sure it’s set correctly.
Fix Network Settings
Find your printer’s IP address on the printer screen.
Open a browser on your computer and enter the IP (e.g., http://192.168.1.25).
Go to Network > Advanced Settings > Manual DNS.
Set:
Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4
Click Save and restart the printer.
Update the Firmware
Go to HP’s support page.
Search for OfficeJet Pro 8740.
Download and install the latest firmware.
Use HP Smart App
Download HP Smart on your phone or PC.
Add your printer.
Use it to turn on Web Services.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.

There is no "Web Services" option on my Printer Screen.
Edit: I found "Web Services setup" in the Settings screen. When I tap on it, I get a screen that says, "Firmware updates can imporove, enhance or extend your printer's functionality and features etc." I tap "Accept" and that leads to a screen that says, "The printer update could not be downloaded. Tough Retry etc." Retry brings up the same screen. I tap "OK" and it says, "Web Services could not be set up." This is a wired connection set for DHCP. I get the same results through wireless. Everything else works: Printer prints from other PCs on the network and from my iPhone.

Hey @GaryKarasik,
Thank you for your response
I suggest you to try these steps:
Check Printer Firmware Version and Update Manually
Sometimes automatic firmware updates fail, so update manually:
Go to HP’s official site for your printer model and download the latest firmware.
Connect your PC to the printer via USB.
Use the HP Firmware Update Utility or HP Smart app on your PC to manually update the firmware.
After updating, retry the Web Services setup on the printer.
Check Internet Access and Firewall on the Network
The printer needs to reach HP’s Web Services servers:
Check if your router/firewall is blocking ports or URLs used by HP.
Check Date & Time Settings
Incorrect date/time can cause SSL connection errors preventing updates.
Verify printer’s date/time settings are correct.
Try a Different Network
If possible, connect the printer to a different network (like a mobile hotspot).
See if Web Services setup succeeds there.
If it does, the issue is likely with your original network or firewall.
I hope this helps.

Connecting via USB, the Update utility sees the printer but says that it's up to date and won't go anywhere from there. Changing to a wireless access point that bypasses any firewall doesn't help either. The printer will not see of connect to HP servers, so after removing the Web Services, I can't reinstall them.
