Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Microsoft Windows 11

Thank you in advance for suggestions you might have to help me fix this issue.

I have a HP Envy 15.6" Model 15M-DR1012DX,12GB Memory, Windows 11 communicating via wifi to a HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All in one printer. They are in different rooms of the house.

When I send a document to print, the document goes to the print queue but does not print. The printer shows as default and “offline” in settings. I can get the document to print by shutting off the printer, disconnecting power, wait about a minute and turn the printer back on. Anything in the queue prints at the time. However when I get back to the laptop, I can actually see the printer going offline. HP Smart sees the printer but shows as status unknown. I can print to that printer by sending an email with an attachment to the printer’s email address.

I have run HP Print and Scan Doctor as well as gone to Services and restarted Print Spoopler. No Joy. This issue started a couple of weeks ago after returning home from being away for a couple of months. Could it be a Windows Update issue?

As an aside, my wife has a laptop with Windows 7 on the same wifi and she has no problems printing on the Pro 8720.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

I am sorry for the late reply but I have been away on business.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to help me resolve the printer issue.

The day before you replied, I ran the HP Print and Scan doctor a second time and this time it worked.

Printing fine now.

Again, thank you for your help

Hi @LouG,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I'd like to help with the printer connectivity issue.

I understand you have already used HP Print and scan doctor, so we will skip that step as of now and follow the below steps:

Set a manual IP-

To set a manual IP and try the steps below -

--->Touch on the wifi icon ((i)) on the printer, and take down the IP address

--->Open a web browser (ex Chrome or Mozilla) and type in the printer's IP

--->then go to network ---> general ---> network protocols ---> select IPV4 only-->apply

--->go to wireless ---> wireless 802.11---> select manual ip ---> apply

--->Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.

--->then go to settings on the main ews page --> power management ---> select sleep mode to max 15min

Connect the printer to TCP/IP port

--->Touch on the wifi icon ((i)) on the printer, and take down the IP address

a. Click Start/Devices and Printers.  Right-click on your HP Printer.  Select Printer Properties.  Select the Ports tab at the top.

b.    Select Add Port.  Select Standard TCP/IP Port.  Select New Port.

c.    Follow the Add Port Wizard.  Under Printer Name or IP Address, .  Example:  192.168.1.15.  The IP address will be copied under Port Name.

d.    Select Next and Finish the Wizard.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
