OfficeJet Pro 9020

OfficeJet Pro 9020 series.  Printer Wireless is disabled.  I have completed Restore Network Settings task.  However, the Wireless Icon is not flashing nor is it available from the Touchscreen / Settings. Please provide advanced reset instructions. Thank you!

Hi @gerrybooth, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

For an HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 where the wireless icon is missing or not flashing despite a network reset, try the following advanced reset steps:

Step 1: Perform a Semi-Full Reset

This reset restores the printer to its factory defaults.

  1. Turn off the printer using the power button.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and wait 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer while holding the following button combination:
    • Press and hold the Back (◀) and Cancel (✖) buttons on the touchscreen while powering on.
  4. Continue holding the buttons until the HP logo appears.
  5. Release the buttons and allow the printer to fully restart.

Step 2: Enable Wireless Connection via Secret Menu

  1. Tap the Home icon on the touchscreen.
  2. Locate and tap an empty area on the screen (hidden menu access).
  3. Enter "2-0-4" in sequence on the touchscreen keypad.
  4. The Engineering Menu should appear.
  5. Navigate to Service Menu > Restore Wireless Defaults and confirm.

Step 3: Hard Reset

If the above steps don’t restore the wireless function:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the Wireless (📶) and Cancel (✖) buttons simultaneously.
  3. While holding the buttons, turn on the printer.
  4. Keep holding until the printer completes its initialization.

Step 4: Update Firmware

  1. Connect the printer to a PC via USB.
  2. Download and install the latest firmware from the HP Support Website.
  3. Run the firmware update tool and follow the on-screen instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
