Hi @Da_Greg

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how confusing it must feel when you select “Print” and the system takes you to a fax prompt instead, especially since you’ve already deleted the fax driver and confirmed the printer is on the same wireless network.

Thank you for those steps—they show real persistence. Let’s go through how to make sure your computer is using the correct print driver for your OfficeJet Pro 9018.

Steps to Ensure Printing Works Instead of Fax

Check Installed Printers in Windows 11

  • Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Look for multiple entries of your OfficeJet Pro 9018.
  • If you see one labeled “Fax,” remove it.
  • Ensure the one labeled “Printer” or “OfficeJet Pro 9018 series” is set as Default.

Add the Printer Freshly

  • In Printers & scanners, click Add device.
  • Select your OfficeJet Pro 9018 from the list.
  • If Windows adds both “Printer” and “Fax,” right-click the printer entry and set it as default.

Check Print Dialog Box

  • When printing a document, in the Print dialog, confirm the selected device is “HP OfficeJet Pro 9018” (not “Fax”).
  • If “Fax” appears, use the dropdown to select the correct printer.

Install Full Feature Software

  • Download and install the full driver package from HP’s site: HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 Drivers
  • This ensures the correct print driver is installed and prevents Windows from defaulting to the fax function.

Test Print

  • Open a simple document and select Print.
  • Verify that the printer now prints directly without asking for a fax recipient.

The issue happens when Windows defaults to the fax driver instead of the print driver. Once the correct printer driver is installed and set as default, the print option will work normally.

Would you like me to also share how to run a test page print from Windows 11 settings? It’s a quick way to confirm the driver is set up correctly before printing your actual documents.
