HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

The Menu of our OfficeJet Pro is stuck in the message "Weak WiFi Signal".  We’ve had the printer in the same location for 2 years and have been and are still able to connect to and print to the printer.  We've cycled power several times.  It'll come up in the main menu for a brief moment, then switch to the "Weak WiFi Signal" message .  There is no way to "dismiss" or clear this message. We need to get to the Main Menu so that we can clean the printer heads, check ink levels, etc.

Hi @MTCTHC

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the concern. Although the HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e is still connected and printing, the printer's control panel is repeatedly displaying the "Weak WiFi Signal" message and preventing access to the main menu functions such as printhead cleaning and ink level checks. Thank you for already performing the power cycling steps.

I recommend working through the following steps in order:

Verify the printer's wireless signal strength

  • Open the HP App on your Windows 11 PC.
  • Select your OfficeJet Pro 8135e.
  • Check the printer status and network information.
  • If available, print a Network Configuration Report and review the signal strength value.

Refresh the wireless connection

  • Restart the printer.
  • Restart the WiFi router.
  • Once both devices are fully powered on, allow the printer a few minutes to reconnect.
  • Observe whether the message clears and the home screen remains accessible.

Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  • Obtain the printer's IP address from the HP App.
  • Enter the IP address into a web browser.
  • From the EWS, verify:
    • Wireless status
    • Signal quality
    • Network connection state
  • You may also be able to access maintenance functions through the web interface while the control panel remains affected.

Restore the network connection

  • On the printer, if you are briefly able to access the menu before the message appears:
    • Navigate to Network Settings.
    • Run Wireless Setup Wizard.
    • Reconnect the printer to your WiFi network.
  • Re-enter the wireless password when prompted.

Update the printer firmware

  • From the HP App or the Embedded Web Server, check for available firmware updates.
  • Install any available update and restart the printer.
  • Firmware updates can improve network communication and control panel behavior.

Perform a printer reset

  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer while it is powered on.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait approximately 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and then to the printer.
  • Power on the printer and check whether the message clears.

If the printer briefly displays the home screen before switching to the message, please let us know whether you can access Setup > Network Settings during that short interval, as that will help determine the most appropriate troubleshooting steps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
