HP Officejet Pro 6835 e-All-in-One Printer

Printer previously connected to wifi.

Tried powering down/up/down/up/disconnecting power, etc...

Tried restoring factory network defaults.

Tried resetting all factory default settings.

Wireless network setup:

... recognizes SSID, (and other neighboring SSIDs), accepts wifi password but times out during connection process.

Printed status report says all tests "PASS" and says MAC filtering may be on at router (it's not.)

Tried WPS with button press, and with PIN... both are accepted by the router, and the router reports that the printer's (correct) MAC id has been added to the network, and then the printer setup times out and says cannot connect.

Also tried HP Smart App and the device is found (using the factory default IP) and steps through the connect process but is unable to connect to router.

Router is dual-band, but 5Ghz is disabled. Several other (20) devices successfully sharing the 2.4Ghz band.  The two bands use different SSIDs.

LAN subnet mask is 255.255.252.0   (192.168.[0|1|2|3].0)
