Officejet Pro 8600 Plus connected over wireless network to MacBook Pro 2018 running Big Sur v 11.2.2
I have two wireless networks and want to be able to switch from one to the other when there are performance issues. You would think that the printer wireless menu would show both, but it only shows the one it is currently connected to. On top of that, the wireless options under Setup are all locked, and I get the message “This feature was locked or disabled by the device administrator. You cannot use this function because it has been locked or disabled. For more information, contact the person who set up the printer.” Which is infuriating, because of course, I set up the printer and didn’t lock or disable those essential features.
So I am stuck on the one network with no way to switch to the other. A related issue is that, while I normally can print without trouble, the MacBook sometimes loses communication with the printer, event though both appear connected on the same wireless network. When that happens, the only way I can re-establish the connection is to power the printer down, and sometimes it won’t even turn off. I have to unplug it.

@solutionseeker, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I understand you are not able to make changes to the settings on the printer. We need to perform a factory reset on the printer to resolve this issue.
- The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
- I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
- In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage
