macOS 12.0 Monterey

The orange (i) information light is permanently on (not flashing) and no other error code is displayed.

The printer Deskjet 2720e is fully functioning but no matter how many attempts at the suggestions from other posts and from comments from tech support the light is permanently on. I have repositioned the printer away from router, directly plugged it into a wall socket but the light still remains on. As long as the printer works I'll ignore the light.

Hi @wee_jimmy1954,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP DeskJet 2720e All-in-One Printer is functioning properly despite the orange (i) information light being permanently on, it could be due to several reasons.

Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve the issue:

  • Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve such issues. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Restart Printer: Try turning off the printer, unplugging it from the power source, waiting for a few minutes, and then plugging it back in. Turn the printer on again and check if the light persists.
  • Reset Printer: Perform a reset on the printer. Instructions for resetting the printer can usually be found in the printer's manual or on the HP website.
  • Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions: Even if the printer is functioning properly, there might be a small issue like a paper jam or a foreign object obstructing the printer's mechanism. Open the printer cover and check for any such issues.
  • Check Printer Settings: Sometimes, incorrect printer settings can cause the information light to stay on. Check the printer settings on your computer and ensure they are configured correctly.

HP DeskJet 2600, 2700, 4100, 4800 printers - No black ink, wrong colors, other print quality issues

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for this. I had previously tried these measures but learned from another post that the light in question will probably go out after I install the first set of replacement cartridges. Not sure why this happens but apparently other users have reported that this appears to be the case. My first set of replacement cartridges are due very soon so I’ll know then and update this post accordingly

many thanks. Jim
